What To Expect
Since every dental emergency is unique, a member of the Atlas Walk team will evaluate your condition to determine how best to treat your specific situation. We may take low-radiation digital x-rays to check for internal damage to the teeth and jawbone. Our doctors will discuss treatment options and either perform a procedure at that time or provide care to get you out of pain and schedule a follow-up visit. If you have a lot of bleeding or inflammation, our team may let you heal for a few days and bring you back at a later time to restore your oral health. We take dental emergencies very seriously and do everything we can to provide care and comfort during your visit.
Recovery
Once we address your dental emergency, a member of the Atlas Walk team will provide you with instructions on how to care for your condition following treatment. You may be given a prescription for antibiotics to reduce infection or pain medication to help keep you comfortable. Other palliative care options may also be recommended, such as using cold compresses for swelling and eating a soft food diet, depending on your specific needs. Our team may also discuss ways to avoid future injury, such as wearing sports mouth guards and avoiding parafunctional habits (like ice chewing). Our team recommends that you continue with a good home care routine each day and keep up with your bi-annual dental cleaning and exam visits. During your future visits, we will continue to monitor your healing from the dental emergency and your overall oral health.
Insurance Coverage
Dental emergency visits may be covered in part by your dental insurance, depending on your specific plan and provider. Our financial team will review your coverage and let you know of any outstanding personal costs. For those who are not using dental insurance, Atlas Walk Dental & Orthodontics accepts a range of convenient payment options to make receiving care affordable. Please do not delay emergency care due to a lack of insurance coverage. We can work with you to review your payment options and provide helpful information on medical financing with CareCredit®.
